{"id":4525,"date":"2020-03-20T12:28:33","date_gmt":"2020-03-20T16:28:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/all4schools.org\/?p=4525"},"modified":"2020-03-20T13:10:36","modified_gmt":"2020-03-20T17:10:36","slug":"class-of-2020-good-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/all4schools.org\/2020\/03\/20\/class-of-2020-good-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Class of 2020: good news in these uncertain times?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although the Florida Department of Education <a href=\"https:\/\/all4schools.org\/2020\/03\/19\/fldoe\/\">released specific details<\/a> about testing and other waivers, it was still unclear whether the Class of 2020 would receive a diploma if they lacked certain graduation requirements. Florida requires Algebra I and the 10th grade FSA in order to graduate. Seniors who lack these scores usually have additional time throughout the spring to re-test and satisfy those conditions often through achieving certain SAT or ACT scores.<\/p>\n<p>The Tampa Bay Times requested additional clarification from the state. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/news\/gradebook\/2020\/03\/19\/never-passed-floridas-algebra-exam-yes-seniors-you-can-still-graduate\/\">This<\/a> is what they were told:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-gtm-vis-first-on-screen-10817113_132=\"17430\" data-gtm-vis-total-visible-time-10817113_132=\"100\" data-gtm-vis-has-fired-10817113_132=\"1\"><em><strong>Current seniors who have yet to meet their assessment requirement do not have to take either the grade 10 FSA ELA or the Algebra 1 end of course exam<\/strong>,\u201d department spokeswoman Taryn Fenske said via email.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-gtm-vis-first-on-screen-10817113_132=\"18763\" data-gtm-vis-total-visible-time-10817113_132=\"100\" data-gtm-vis-has-fired-10817113_132=\"1\"><em>They will graduate with a diploma, as their remaining chances to complete the expectation before commencement have been suspended.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-gtm-vis-first-on-screen-10817113_132=\"18946\" data-gtm-vis-total-visible-time-10817113_132=\"100\" data-gtm-vis-has-fired-10817113_132=\"1\"><em>As for others in the algebra and sophomore language arts courses, it\u2019s less well defined.
