Superintendent Jenkins announced this morning that Orange County Public Schools will drastically change the new district end of course exam policy called common finals. \u00a0The superintendent stated that scores for the finals would be used only if they improved a student’s grade. \u00a0The finals were\u00a0implemented this year in response to a legislative mandate. All district common finals were to count 20% of a students’ annual grade. All students will still be required to take the exams but the results will not negatively impact them. Dr. Jenkins noted that the new policy goes beyond holding children harmless and allows all students every opportunity to succeed. Read the memo here.<\/a><\/p>\n
